ASSUMING you live in one of the few places in Ireland that can actually receive digital radio, you'll be delighted to learn that Irish actor Cillian Murphy is to present his own music show on RTé digital station 2XM. Sources in Donnybrook say the star of The Wind that Shakes the Barley is to record a special edition of music show Revolver.


It's well known the Cork man is a major music fan. He was also once the lead singer of a band called the Sons of Mr Greengenes. In 1995, the mod outfit came close to signing a five-album deal with London label Acid Jazz. Eddie Piller, the London boss of the label, told me: "Cillian blew me away, but when I offered him a record deal, he said he wanted to be an actor instead. I thought 'no chance mate' until a few years later my missus brought home the DVD of 28 Days Later. He could have been right about that one."


?IT was a snow show. Despite pictures of them performing in the tabloids last week, The Diary can reveal that two showcase gigs by Jodi Albert's new girlband in Dublin's Red Box last Monday and Tuesday didn't result in a major record deal. It seems that the three London-based A&R men, who had been due to fly in to see the new group perform, failed to show after being snowed in at Heathrow.
