Richard Corrigan: €20 for two course lunch, including wine

Deal of the Week

Foodies have good reason to like Richard Corrigan after he persuaded some of Dublin's finest restaurants to put a €20 two-course lunch (including wine) on the menu for two weeks in January. Michelin-starred establishments Chapter One and L'Ecrivain, as well as Bentley's Oyster Bar and Grill, China Sichuan, Town Bar and Grill and the Cellar restaurant, are all taking part. The deal is available from Monday to Thursday for one more week.

Bad Value of the Week

Ryanair is planning to crack down on passengers who overstuff their carry-on luggage in the hope of avoiding the airline's baggage charges. Due to some abuse of the carry-on system, Ryanair is now going to charge for extra bags, including handbags and laptops. Passengers have been advised to pay the €15 to check in the bag rather than risk a fine. Didn't flying used to be fun?

Tip of the Week

Following on from last week's bad value of the week – Smyth's Toy Stores 1550 customer service number – the people behind Saynoto1890.com contacted Money Talks with a list of alternative numbers for similarly expensive lines used by various companies. We had no joy using the alternative for Smyth's but many of the others listed worked and, as they were included in our free minutes, cost nothing.
