From a certain point of view, Wayne Krantz is about as hip as guitar playing gets. Though he's usually lumped in with other jazz guitarists, he is one of the most unique voices in music, straddling jazz, rock, funk and various more abstract genres, with an admirable taste for the sort of sounds and volume levels that other jazz guitarists dare not visit. This album finds him in his favoured trio format, and features pioneers in their own right, drummer Keith Carlock and bassist/producer Tim Lefebvre. What they together have created is a record that is liberating, exhilarating, and so deep in the pocket that it is breaking out the other side.
