New design: the Giulietta should appeal to fans of the 147 series

THE Alfa Romeo Style Centre has produced a new Giulietta, which the company hopes will capture the imagination of the original fifties Giulietta which brought thousands of fans to the marque for its road holding agility. The new model is a compact created to appeal to the same breed of customers who want dynamic performance and a distinctive style.

The Giulietta has brand-new architecture, combined with comfort thanks to refined suspensions and what Alfa engineers call a 'next-generation' steering system. Aluminium and high strength steel are used to make it a rigid yet light structure. Alfa DNA, a device which customises behaviour of the car according to different driving styles and road conditions, can adapt the new Alfa Romeo to the needs of each individual driver. Three set-ups (Dynamic, Normal and All Weather) are available and can be selected using the Alfa DNA. This device – standard across the entire range of the new model – modifies the operating parameters of the engine, of the steering system, and of the electronic differential, in addition to fine-tuning the stability control system.

The Giulietta front end features a new interpretation of the classic Alfa badge, set into the front bumper and suspended between the two air intakes. The car develops from here in an elegant form, the front headlamps have LED technology and Daytime Running Lights for improved safety. The dimensions give a compact exterior and with some clever engineering there is a spacious interior with a 350 litre boot.

The Giulietta offers a choice of five turbocharged engines – all European compliant and fitted with a standard "Start&Stop" system for reducing consumption and emissions. There are two petrol engines (1.4TB - 120 bhp and 1.4TB MultiAir - 170 bhp) and two diesel engines. The range is completed with a powerful 1750 TBi - 235 bhp engine.
