Canal Court Hotel, Newry

Bubblicious treat at Morgan

The Morgan on Dublin's Fleet Street is one of our favourite city centre boltholes, being quirkily chic, with an excellent bar tapas menu and generally friendly vibe. It's celebrating its 10th birthday this year and to mark the occasion, is offering rates from €55 per person sharing B&B, as well as a complimentary birthday cocktail, the Morgan Bubble, made up of elderflower liqueur, fresh mango, lime juice and prosecco. Yum! The package is available until 13 March. Visit www.themorgan.com and tel: 01 6437000.

Fjord focus

Scandinavia has a reputation for being rather pricey but we think gohop.ie's three-day trip to Norwegian capital Oslo is very reasonable. It costs €339 per person sharing and the package includes return direct flights and taxes from Dublin with Scandinavian Airlines and three nights' accommodation in a four-star hotel on a B&B basis. Gohop is suggesting it as the perfect place for a St Valentine's Day getaway, with strolls along the banks of the Akerselva river or snuggling up onboard a traditional, wooden sailing ship for a minicruise on the Oslo fjord some of the romantic possibilities. Subject to availability; visit www.gohop.ie or tel: 01 2412389 to book.

Mourne magic

There's more to Newry than the shopping. It has a lively nightlife and there are plenty of scenic views around the Mourne mountains and the pretty coastline. The four-star Canal Court Hotel here is offering a two-night break, including breakfast and one evening meal from £129 per person sharing. The hotel, which has a large health and leisure complex and 112 bedrooms and suites, is an impressive building, overlooking the canal.
