THE future of the Limerick regeneration project is now under threat after defence minister and local TD Willie O'Dea conceded the government could no longer afford the initial budget.

Some €1.7bn was due to be spent on upgrading many of the city's housing estates, seen as crucial in reducing crime and anti-social behaviour.
