Irish UFO tape to be beamed around the world

Footage of an alleged UFO, which was filmed in Co Meath by a senior garda two months ago, is to be the main attraction of Ireland's first Paranormal Convention. The footage, filmed on a camera phone over Dunboyne on 3 August, will be shown to hundreds of UFO enthusiasts expected at the event in Clontarf Castle, Dublin next weekend.

"What we have is the best film of a UFO ever filmed in Ireland and perhaps some of the best footage ever captured worldwide," said Carl Nally, co-founder of UFO and Paranormal Research Ireland.

"The man involved is a high-ranking garda from Portlaoise. He was on his way back there from Dunboyne on 3 August at about 10.45pm when he spotted four triangular UFOs travelling over his head.

"It was such an amazing sight that he jumped out of his car and began filming the objects on his camera phone. What he caught was the fourth triangular shaped UFO , turning anti-clockwise before shooting a beam down towards the Earth. It then can be seen flying off following the other UFOs in a northwest direction."

Nally says he has had interest in the footage from as far afield as Australia with various TV companies in touch looking for the footage to be made available for documentaries.

A joint author of best selling Irish UFO book Conspiracy of Silence, Nally says the senior garda joins other credible witnesses, including an airline pilot and a town councillor, who all claim to have seen recent UFO activity in the skies around north Dublin and Meath.

These UFO witnesses are expected to talk about their experiences at the Clontarf convention. "People are becoming more open when it comes to discussing their supernatural and UFO experiences and we want to give these people a chance to meet others and ask questions," said Mark Guerin, the conference's organiser.

On Sunday 5/10/2008 about 19:00-19.30 we saw one burning thing in the sky in the west on our way from Galway to Ballinrobe. At the end of the phenomenon we saw that it had become one smoky thing with big black smoke. What it could be? Did anyone else see it?

The "UFO footage" is of sky lanterns (Chinese lanterns) released from Dunboyne Castle by my husband and I at our wedding reception there on the evening of 3 August 2008.

Yes, Ms Mulligan is correct. My wife and I stayed at the Dunboyne Castle Hotel on the nights of 2nd and 3rd August last, and between 10.30pm and 11pm on 3rd August we watched, from the balcony of our room, the wedding party release about a dozen “sky lanterns” from the car park which travelled in a roughly westerly direction. These are Chinese lanterns/hot air balloons, each powered by a candle. While they were neither coloured, nor triangular, I suspect these were the UFOs your correspondent Ken Sweeney is referring to. Sorry if this spoils the fun at the forthcoming UFO convention.

I spoke Andrea on the phone who thought her wedding lanterns were the UFO's reported in the article.
Our video footage was taken by a Garda detective (a highly skilled and trained observer)
and he is in no doubt about what he saw and videoed on the night of August 3rd at 10:45pm.
1) Twelve bright objects were observed.
2) There is no video footage on The Tribune website, just three small quality stills.
Since she has never viewed the video footage, she could not compare the two experiences.
We at UPRI are not aware of any sky lantern anywhere in the world having the capability to
shoot a red laser type beam down to the ground. I personally have alot of experience with sky
lanterns, (we let dozens off every year at our UFO conferences) and the characteristics of the sky
lanterns do not resemble the video footage in any shape or form whatsoever.

Mmmmm....what are the chances that we let off about 12 sky lanterns over Dunboyne at 10.45pm on 3 August 2008 and, at exactly the same time, on the same date and in the same location, 12 completely separate and unrelated UFOs decided to make an appearance?

We all know people take photographs at wedding receptions. Can you post some of your wedding reception photos with the Chinese lanterns? Then we can make a comparison to the UFO photograph and alleged video when it's released.

This is one of the best clips we have seen in many years. It has all the details that witnesses have reported associated with Flying Triangle UFOs However with that information somebody who has a little knowledge of 3D CGI animation could build that detail into a computer-generated model. There is no background or ground details in the film and just a suggestion that the witness is an un-named Garda (policeman).
As editor of UFO DATA Magazine I would suggest this is a (very good) hoax, sorry guys.

Yeah this was lights attached to balloons set off at a wedding ceremony. The woman who did this tried to contact these UFO researchers and they blew her off. Well wait until this weekend at the convention. Can you say ......DEBUNKED!

To get back to earth for a while, and if you're still "in contact" I would like to wish you every happiness in your marriage and to say, yes, we enjoyed your sky lanterns very much. It was the first time we had seen them and our daughter, who was with us and who is getting maried next year, was particularly interested. By a coincidence, we were back in Dunboyne Castle last Tuesday and Wednesday to celebrate our wedding anniversary, and some of the staff there, who had not seen the UFO reports, remembered your wedding and the sky lanterns very well, and said what a nice well-behaved crowd you all were. They particularly remembered because your weddding party was, unusually, on a Sunday, which struck us as unusual too. Best wishes to yourself and your husband.

Do you really thing the gardai are looking up in the sky all day and night to identify different ariel objects? Lol. They were not trained for that

Hi Jo, sorry but you're mistaken. We held our wedding reception there (Dunboyne Castle Hotel) on 3 August 2008. You can't have spoken to the wedding co-ordinator (Melanie Euler) because she has passed on to us the details of everyone who's contacted the hotel about our sky lanterns (mostly journalists!)

My boyfriend and I were coming back from Galway on Sunday night. As we approached Lucan on the M4 we both spotted what we think was a 'UFO'. It was sort a triangular shape with 'fins' at the back...very strange...

Okay I just saw the video footage and to me it seems to be a fake. Why is it always on a dark night people catch these things here? And they're always very slow moving objects. In a hundred years here in ireland people only got shots of nighttime UFOs, when there's less people out and about. Where are the daytime ones when there's alot more people out? If you have any good daytime UFO pictures from Ireland in the last hundred years, post one here. I don't think you'll find one.

Hi, I'd just like to say that earlier in the year a guy who was working with me saw something in Donegal. He, his mother and sister saw them. The sighting was during the day and it consisted of three huge cylinder-shaped objects. He said you could clearly see them but he has no idea what they were. He never saw anything like it before. The objects sat suspended then one moved around in front of the others and they all moved away together. Recently I met someone else who saw the same thing, the same day and these people don't know each other. Is air traffic control picking up any of these objects on Irish radar?

Well if they are they will not release the information. Almost everytime the FAA will not disclose anything about this kind of thing. I wonder why?
