Robert Heffernan retained his 5,000m walk title at the National Indoor Championships in Belfast yesterday, holding off Colin Griffin and Jamie Costin at the line. "I decided to lead from the gun because I did not want to rely on speed as I had done some very heavy training over the past few weeks," Heffernan said.
